Environmental Improvements in 2010 - 2013

Mossbank have been working with Groundwork Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford to bring environmental improvements to all of our estates.

Consultations were held within the community throughout March and April 2010 with over 100 local residents coming along to give their ideas, concerns and comments about the planned improvement work.

Additionally, 8 art sessions have been held with local schools and colleges and 8 community events have taken place including door knocking on smaller estates.

As a result of the consultation, small amendments have been made to our proposals.

The future works will be delivered throughout the year.  Here are just some of the things you can expect to see:

The immediate improvements (“quick –wins”) will include new signage for flats, bulb and tree planting, the installation of art features and the replacement of handrails.  All these improvements will take place from now until the end of the year – although the bulk of the work will have been completed by the end of August 2010.  These are small improvements that can have a large impact upon the estates.  Also, you will have noticed that a large number of trees on the estates have been pruned or removed to improve the visual appearance.

(To find out more about these improvements please contact Senior Project Officer, Rachael Ellison at Groundwork on (0161) 220 1000).

In the future

In addition to the immediate environmental improvements, we are committed to looking at the larger, more complex issues which have been raised by residents.  These include car parking, boundary treatments, garage areas and areas of land that are vulnerable to anti social behavior.  These have been developed into an Environmental Plan, which you were consulted upon in March/April 2010, at the same time as the “quick-wins”.

Over the coming months we will be developing the Environmental Plan into deliverable projects.  We will keep you up to date on the progress through direct mail outs, the internet and our quarterly newsletter.  Residents will be heavily involved in the consultation process and can look forward to seeing these changes from 2011.
